I read on NPR today that McDonald's is finally giving their Happy Meals a nutritional overhaul. Until now, your options included apple slices instead of fries, but only if you ask for them. The new plan, rolling out in September, is to include fresh fruits or veggies with every meal. And, in what is probably the smartest move yet, they are cutting the portion size of the fries by more than half. The lower fat and sodium offerings result is a much healthier meal for our children.
