About Me

Welcome to my little corner of the world!

My name is Erin, and I'm a middle school ELA teacher in suburban Illinois. I began teaching in 2006 when I kissed Corporate America goodbye in search of a more meaningful career! I've worked in both public and charter schools in every setting from SPED to Gifted & Talented. No matter my placement or challenges, my love for my students is what gets me through each day.

My extra-curricular activities include: reading (mostly) young adult novels; (re)organizing anything and everything; creating products for my TPT store; pretending I don't hate to cook; browsing the millions of pictures of my friends' children on Facebook, planning my dream life on Pinterest; filling online shopping carts with items I will never buy; watching hair, makeup, and nail art tutorials on YouTube; hanging out with my niece; and watching The Real Housewives of... Everywhere.

My favorite part about blogging is developing relationships with other teachers. I'm so grateful for the friends I've made who have helped me grow as a writer and an educator. Blogging really should count toward professional development hours!

I invite you to get comfortable and stay as long as you like. Don't be afraid to let me know what you think! :)

  3. Love these ideas! Wish you lived nearby, b/c this is not in my forte (don't think I've ever used that word) at all, so I could use all the help I can get on this end! So funny to read that you originally wanted to be a talk show host, b/c that's exactly what I wanted to be...I guess teaching middle school is the next best thing?!? Glad to have found another middle school blog, as these seem to be harder to find!

  4. Hey Lady,
I was going to email you but couldn't find an address! I teach in the QC area, what side of Chicago are you on? So much of what you've written across your blog could have come out of my mouth! I love your style!
